Bad things happen all the time, sometimes by accident, other times because people make wrong decisions or decide to inflict pain on others. This is how things are. When we say that bad things are evil though, we assume that they are not just the result of chance or choice. We start thinking that there is something fundamentally flawed in the way not just humanity but the whole universe works. This can impact our faith in God: how can he have allowed this to happen? Whenever all goes well in our lives we can afford paying little attention to these questions. How prepared are we though for when bad things have an impact on our lives? Second Sunday Theology Talks that explores the resources Christian faith and spirituality offer to tackle these issues.
Saint Thomas Theological Education Program is at the service of those who seek a deeper understanding of faith and want to nourish their worship and their prayer. The teaching is rooted in Scripture, Christian tradition and spirituality. The lecturers are The Rev. Dr. Luigi Gioia, Theologian in Residence, and internationally renowned guest speakers who are committed to making theology accessible to non-specialists. The classes are held on Sundays at 10 AM on the Fifth Floor of the Parish House and are streamed online. Additionally, recordings and handouts are made available for those who cannot attend the live sessions.
