Our guest lecturer was Dr. Katherine Harvey, who offered a presentation entitled Perspectives on the Sunni-Shia Conflict in the Middle East.

Dr. Harvey explored the theological origin of the split between Sunni and Shia Islam and its manifestations today and examined the waves of “sectarianization” that have rocked the region in the last forty years since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. She also addressed the prospects for greater reconciliation today.
