‚Ä¢ A year of centennial celebrations begins this week with a special Centennial Hymn Sing on Thursday, September 26 and then gains momentum more gloriously on Sunday, October 6. Read more here, and listen to this week’s audio message from Fr Mead here.

Music notes: William Mathias was a Welsh composer and pianist whose prolific pen created a large body of music for orchestra, organ and piano. Maestro Mathias paid a visit to Saint Thomas Church in 1983, during which he conducted The Choir in a Service of Evensong which featured his compositions, among which was ‘Let the people praise thee’, written at the request of the Prince of Wales for the celebrated royal wedding.

The Missa Aedis Christi was composed in 1983 for Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford in memoriam of one of the College’s more famous alumni, Sir William Walton.
