The Second Sunday Of Advent
Merciful God, who sent thy messengers the prophets to preach repentance and prepare the way for our salvation: Give us grace to heed their warnings and forsake our sins, that we may greet with joy the coming of Jesus Christ our Redeemer; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the HolySpirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The service begins with the clergy and choir entering in silence, going to their respective places in the chancel. The Litany then begins with the words "O God the Father, Creator of heaven and earth." Then, at "Remember not, Lord, our offences...," the clergy and choir begin a long Procession through the nave, moving down...

The Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary
O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin prepared a worthy dwelling for your Son, grant, we pray, that, as you preserved her from every stain by virtue of the Death of your Son, which you foresaw, so, through her intercession, we, too, may be cleansed and admitted to your presence.
