Two of the most venerable and reliable of the annual presentations of Handel’s “Messiah” in New York went head-to-head this week. John Scott conducted the St. Thomas Choir of Men and Boys at St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue on Tuesday evening and again on Thursday, the same night that Kent Tritle conducted Musica Sacra in the first of its two performances at Carnegie Hall.
